Nan Lurie (1910 – 1980)

Nan Lurie was born in New York in 1910. She studied under scholarship at the Art Students League and worked four years on the W.P.A. program. After a four years stay in Woodstock, she moved in 1940 to New York, where she has been living ever since. To be able to paint independently, she engaged during the last years in several part-time jobs, working at nights and at her days off.
Nan Lurie's work has been exhibited at the ACA Gallery, Whitney Museum of American Art, Museum of Modern Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Fine Arts.
